Hollywood legend Charlton Heston has died aged 84. Heston, who won an Oscar for his performance in Ben Hur, will not be pressed on to perform now that he’s deceased. His death, the ultimate act, could be considered his most convincing performance and, as a result, media attention in the Hollywood fixture has—albeit temporarily—increased. In his later years, ‘Chuck’ turned down a lucrative offer to star in a comedic sequel to Ben Hur, the biblical epic that won him an Oscar, called Ben Hur-Hur! He was also noted for his dalliance with right-wing politics and pro-gun ownership stance. It remains unclear whether these issues were linked to the dementia that afflicted the ageing star.
